France Telecom-Orange Group plans to invest between EUR 500 and 600 million in the development of the subsidiary in Romania until 2015, having allotted over EUR 110 million, according to Thierry Millet, the general manager of the Romanian mobile operator,.

According to Orange Romania's data, the network modernization program, which will include more than 2,000 sites, will reduce the energy consumption by 20 percent. The development strategy is part of France Telecom Group's strategy, Conquest 2015, and was adapted to the local context, namely to the Romanian operator needs, to the Romanian telecom market's situation and to the customer needs in Romania.

France Telecom-Orange Group's subsidiary in Romania began its activity in 1997. In the first quarter of this year, Orange Romania's revenues decreased with 6 percent to EUR 222 million, from EUR 237 million registered in the same period last year, due to difficult economic conditions and rising inflation.
