Francois-Melchior de Polignac replaces Lespagnol at the helm of Carrefour Romania
Francois-Melchior de Polignac is the new general manager of Carrefour Romania, replacing Patrice Lespagnol starting next month, according to the French retailer. Lespagnol, who came to lead Carrefour Romania in April 2008, will take over the management of the Greek subsidiary.
De Polignac, 38, started his career with the L'Oreal group in Italy. He joined Carrefour in 2000 after having spent three years with Boston Consulting Group in Paris. With Carrefour, he has worked in Poland and France. From May 2009, he was responsible with one of the main change programs within the group.
Carrefour posted EUR 1.13 billion in sales in Romania last year, down 0.4 percent on the year before. The retailer managed to up its sales by 0.2 percent in the forth quarter of the year, to EUR 327 million. Worldwide, the retailer’s sales grew by 5 percent last year on the previous.
