Francophone Film Festival opens in Bucharest

The Francophone Film Festival takes place in Bucharest between October 31 and November 2, at the headquarters of the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR).

A total of 11 productions, encompassing feature films, animations and documentaries, will be screened.

The project Women/ Femmes of French photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand will be presented at the opening of the festival. The photographer traveled through 60 countries to capture portraits of women.

The animation film Aya de Yopougon, of Marguerite Abouët and Clément Oubrerie, will open the festival. The other ten films that will be screened are directed by women. They have been previously screened at various sections of the Trophées francophones, an event dedicated to the Francophone cinema. Among the directors whose films will be screened are Leyla Bouzid, Ursula Meier, Angèle Diabang and Ruxandra Zenide.

The event is occasioned by the International Conference of Francophone Women, set for November 1 – November 2. The event is organized by the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the International Francophony Organization, under the patronage of the Romanian Presidency.
