French Filasa plans EUR 780 mln wind parks North of Romania

French company Filasa plans to invest EUR 780 million in 11 wind parks in Suceava county, north of Romania. The total installed power of these wind park will reach 516 MW, according to Gheorghe Flutur, the head of the Suceava County Council. The 11 wind parks will be built in the localities Ciprian Porumbescu, Horodniceni, Capul Cam­pu­lui, Dragoiesti, Berchisesti, Moara, Stroiesti, Ilisesti and Udesti.

Filasa was created by the French family Lacoste, which sold its Leader Price stores in France and went into renewable energy investments in various countries, Romania included.

For the projects in Romania, the wind turbines will be provided by Vestas. Works will start next spring and should take two years to complete.

Moldova, the region where Suceava County is located, has recently captured the interest of investors in wind energy, after most of the projects so far have been crowded in Dobrogea.
