French film director Olivier Assayas comes to Bucharest festival
French filmmaker Olivier Assayas will be celebrated at the seventh edition of Les Films des Cannes a Bucarest festival which will take place in the Romanian capital from October 14 to October 23.
The film director will meet the Romanian public at the premiere of his latest film Personal Shopper, which brought him the Best Director award at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. The event will take place on October 20, 20:45, at the National Museum of Art (MNAR), the Auditorium Hall.
Next, Assayas will hold a masterclass at the I.L. Caragiale University of Drama and Film on October 21. The event will start at 11:00, and the entry will be free.
Moreover, three of the French director’s most appreciated movies will be screened within the festival’s Focus Olivier Assayas section, namely L’Eau Froide (1994), high-tech thriller Demonlover (2002), and L’Heure d’été (2008).
Born in 1955, Olivier Assayas is one of the most well known French filmmakers. He is the author of over 15 feature films, and ambitious and eclectic projects carried out over a career of three decades.
Assayas made his debut in 1986, after directing some short films and writing for film magazine Cahiers du cinema. His most popular feature films are Paris, je t’aime (2006), Clouds of Sils Maria (2014), and Summer Hours (2008).
Les Films de Cannes a Bucharest gives Romanian film fans the chance to see some of the most popular films selected for the Cannes Film Festival. This year’s edition will take place between October 14 and October 23 in Bucharest. However, for the first time in the event’s history, movie screenings will also take place in Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, and Iasi.
The festival will open on October 14 with the comedy Toni Erdmann, in the presence of director Maren Ade. Find out more about the event on its official website here.
