French insurer AXA aims for 100-unit network in Romania

French insurer AXA, owner of Romanian Omniasig Life since 2010, wants to reach 100 units in Romania and hire 2,000 sales consultants in Romania, the company has announced. The company, which currently has 15 units and works with over 500 consultants, previously expressed its intention to reach the top 5 life insurers in Romania within three years.

AXA entered a market where the main competitors are ING Asigurari, BCR Asigurari de Viata and Alico.

The insurer sold over 1,000 insurance-saving policies for children in the first four months of this year and hopes to double this number, according to Violeta Ciurel, the head of AXA in Romania. The company is currently promoting life insurance for children with campaign which should last by the end of the year.

Elsewhere, AXA sells other types of insurances but focuses on life insurance in Romania. The group posted earnings of EUR 2.4 billion in the first half of this year.
