Fun things to do in Bucharest this summer
Everyone seems to be looking for fun things to do during summer, and Bucharest does offer plenty of options for all budgets and tastes. Below is a selection of fun activities one can choose from in the Romanian capital – please add yours in the comments too. Laser tag There are plenty of laser tag options in Bucharest, below are just some of them. lasermegazone.ro- RON 20/person for 20 minutes. lasertagbucuresti.ro- between RON 6 and RON 20/person for 15/20 minutes. Subscriptions possible. lasertag-arena.ro – RON 10 for 10 minutes, RON 15/15 minutes, RON 20/20 minutes, per person lasermaxx.ro - RON 18/15 minutes /person, RON 23/person/20 minutes Paintball Another popular activity, with plenty of choices. Below are some of them. paintballas.ro – In Baneasa forest; RON 0.3 per ball, minimum 100 balls/person RON 30. Equipment included in price. academiadepaintball.ro – Petricani area; RON 0.3 per ball, minimum 100 balls/person RON 30. Equipment included in price – during weekend. 200 free balls for the person making the reservation; RON 0.2 /ball during the week, at least 150 balls/player. citypaintball.ro – behind Casa Presei Libere; RON 0.3 per ball; wwpaintball.ro – RON 0.2/ball/player during week, RON 0.25/ball/player during weekend, RON 0.3/ball/player during the night; minimum 100 balls per player. 100 free balls for person making reservation for 8. Bowling & pool There are quite a few places offering bowling and pool in Bucharest. One of our newest discoveries is Trickshot at Promenada Mall. You will find bowling and pool at most shopping malls in Bucharest. Escape rooms There are a few Escape Rooms in Bucharest (we’ve tried this one), and they make for a fun day out with friends or colleagues. One hour in the room trying to solve the mysteries, and the rest of the day talking about it over drinks! realroomescape.com- RON 135 for teams of 2-3 people escaperooms.ro - RON 135 for teams of 2-3 people Rowing boat or paddling over the Dambovita river This one is new, and sounds a lot like fun. We wrote about it here. For the time being it’s free. Pub crawl This seems to be one of the favorite for many foreigners who visit Bucharest, which is famous for its night life. The Old Town is the perfect place for a pub crawl as all the cool places are next to each other, but other locations across Bucharest can be included on the route. Water park Going to a pool or at the water park can become fun things during hot summers. We would go for the latter option. The Divertiland water park has been recommended to us, but there’s also the waterpark in Otopeni. Waterpark.ro- entry ticket RON 30 during the week, RON 50 during weekends. Free for children under 3. Subscriptions for the summer possible. Divertiland.ro - RON 40 during the week, RON 65 during the weekend. Children up to 10 – RON 25 all week. Online ticket purchase available. Amusement park Up there near the water park should be the option to go to an amusement park. There’s only one we know of in Bucharest, it’s called Terra Park Terra-park.ro – entry to all amusement points: RON 69/bracelet; card with points that will be used in the park also available, 50 points, RON 50. Ice skating The only indoor skating rink opened during summer in Bucharest (that we know of) is at AFI Palace Cotroceni. cotroceni-on-ice.ro – RON 15 to 21/entry (depending on week day), RON 11 to rent ice skates; subscriptions also possible. Outdoor movies There are several options for watching movies outdoor in Bucharest (that is, if you don’t already have your own garden) Gradina cu Filme – film garden – at Lahovari square; free access, films starting at 20,30- 21,00. Schedule until end-July, here. Cine park in Herastrau park, until end of August; cartoons starting 18,00, films starting 19,30; free entry; on Friday, Saturday, Sunday evenings; Metropolis Caravan – in Bucharest between August 5 – September 14. Location to be announced; Outdoor theater On top of the Promenada Mall – between July 18 and 27; daily, starting 20:30; free entry; schedule is here. Escalade Here’s another one for adrenaline seekers. There are several gyms and places where one can try out the escalade, some of them also have special spaces for kids. verticalspirit.ro – two climbing gyms, at Baicului and at Universitate; RON 30/one entry/adult; RON 25/one entry/children under 14; subscriptions possible, as well as initiation classes, renting equipment; sala-escalada.ro- RON 20/first entry; RON 30/adult/entry after that, RON 20/entry/child; subscriptions for unlimited entries also possible; fabricadecatarat.ro – RON 85/person/2 weeks/unlimited entries; offers for couples and for longer periods also available; equipment rent and courses available; carpatic.ro – RON 25/entry/adult; RON 12 or 20/entry/child; subscriptions also available; Quiz nights There is a famous team English language quiz event held at the MoJo club in the Old Town; more about it here; entry fee RON 10 – entirely donated; Sports in the street Every weekend until August 24 the Kiseleff boulevard closes down for traffic and opens for sports, Via Sport; Friday, 22:00, to Sunday at 14:00; table tennis, basketball, badminton, volleyball, chess, rummy, and a lounge area await on the street. Alternative & unexpected experiences - SenzArt – an experimental art exhibition at the National Museum of Contemporary Art MNAC (Palace of Parliament, House of the People); among others, the installation includes colored pillows, ziplocks and sounds, a rainbow where one can create a melody by interacting with the art objects; entry tickets RON 10; open until November; - Eating mici in the bar at the Gara Catelu – Republica, in a working class neighborhood; the mici are RON 1.5 and the beer, RON 3.
