Furniture retailer JYSK reaches EUR 50 mln sales in Romania
Danish furniture and home decorations retailer JYSK has reached 40 stores in Romania after opening 14 new units in the 2015-2016 financial year.
The group’s local sales went up by 61%, to some EUR 50 million. The operational profit (EBIT) almost tripled compared to the 2014-2015 financial year, reaching EUR 6.2 million.
“The very good results continue our growth trend in recent years,” said Alex Bratu Country Manager JYSK Romania.
He says the sales were also boosted by weekly campaigns and by bringing products suitable for the local market. Mattresses and furniture were the categories that contributed most to the increase in sales.
JYSK entered the Romanian market in 2007, when it opened its first local store in Oradea. Meanwhile, the company has reached 40 stores and almost 500 employees.
The Danish group had sales of EUR 3.12 billion and an EBIT of EUR 422 million in the 2015-2016 financial year. It has over 2,400 stores and 21,000 employees.
