Gas producers in Romania to close contracts only on centralized markets
The producers and suppliers of natural gas will be obliged to conclude contracts only on Romania’s centralized gas markets between December 1, this year, and the end of December 2017.
The Government introduced this measure via an emergency ordinance adopted on September 28. The bill amends the local law on electricity and natural gas.
The only exception from the new regulation is for the natural gas used to produce thermal energy destined for household consumption. The bill maintains the current contracting system for heating gas until March 31, 2017. The aim is not to disrupt the supply and prevent the emergence of risks during the winter season.
