Serbian NIS Group, controlled by Russian gas company Gazprom, will open two new gas stations in Romania this July, according to local business newspaper Ziarul Financiar.

The filling stations are located on the Bucharest-Pitesti highway and the work, which began in late April, is set to be completed by the end of June, according to the site's management. Project management is being handled by the company Remark Visio, while the building contractor is Acomin, a company which in 2011 reported a turnover of EUR 44 million, according to ZF.

Other oil companies present on the local market, such as Lukoil, Petrom, OMV, Agip and MOL, already operate filling stations on the Bucharest-Pitesti highway.

Gazprom plans to open 50 filling stations in Romania by the end of 2013, within the Gazprom network development project. NIS will operate Gazprom petrol stations in the Balkans. The first Gazprom filling station on Romanian soil was opened in Sibiu in December, 2012.
