Gedeon Richter’s sales in Romania go up 19%
Hungarian pharma group Gedeon Richter’s sales in Romania increased by 18.9% last year compared to 2015, reaching EUR 196.2 million.
The largest contribution to the total turnover came from the distribution and retail segments, namely Pharmafarm and Gedeon Richter Farmacia, according to a company’s report.
The market in Romania recorded the second increase in sales at group level, after China (27.6%), and significantly contributed to the sales recorded in the EU. In 2015, Gedeon Richter recorded in Romania sales of EUR 165 million.
Besides the drug distribution and retail segments, the group also carries out production activities through the drug factory Gedeon Richter Romania, which is based in Targu Mures.
The distributor Pharmafarm and the more than 100 pharmacies had sales of EUR 183.2 million during this period, up 23.4% year-on-year. The group’s own drug sales in Romania increased last year by 8.8% to EUR 30.8 million.
