German group expands with new plant in central Romania
German refrigeration and air conditioning equipment producer Güntner Group has started test production at its new plant for commercial refrigeration units in Sibiu, central Romania.
The new facility in Sibiu covers an area of 18,000 sqm and will be dedicated to manufacturing commercial refrigeration units, taking over some of the production from the company’s existing plant in Tata, Hungary. Following a successful test stage, the relocation is to take place in the spring of 2016, according to a company statement.
"The new Sibiu/Hermannstadt plant in Romania, specifically designed for manufacturing commercial refrigeration units, allows us not only to satisfy the steadily increasing demand for energy-efficient and low-noise units but also to achieve the required capacities for the production of industrial units at the Tata plant in Hungary,” said Robert Gerle, managing director at Güntner.
The manufacturing department completed so far comprises three assembly lines for manufacturing commercial units, a powder coating installation and a separate quality assurance department. The capacity of the plant is to be increased step by step.
“This increase in production goes hand in hand with a further manufacturing relief at the Tata site and with an adjustment to rising sales figures in the Group. The Tata site will focus on manufacturing industrial units in the future,” reads the company’s statement.
German Güntner GmbH & Co. KG is a world leader in the manufacture of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment components. It has some 3,000 employees worldwide and production sites in Germany, Hungary, Romania, Indonesia, Mexico, Brazil, and Russia.
