German retailer Kaufland will open three new hypermarkets in Bucharest by the end of 2014, reaching a total of 10 units in Romania’s capital. Two of the new hypermarkets are located in Drumul Taberei neighborhood and one in Aparatorii Patriei, reports local Ziarul Financiar.
The hypermarkets in Bucharest cover areas between 5,000 sqm and 5,500 sqm, and are bigger than the ones located in the rest of the country. On a national level, the stores have an average size of 3,600 sqm.
Kaufland runs a network of 96 units in Romania and plans to reach 100 stores by the end of this year.
