Germany, new home to some 100,000 Romanians at half-2014

About 98,000 Romanians moved to Germany in the first half of 2014, of the 667,000 foreigners who settled down in the country.

The number of Romanians went up by 46% year-on-year, reports local economica.net.

Polish and Bulgarians came next, with 96,000, respectively 38,000.

The immigration in Germany grew by 20% in 2014, according to official statistics.

During the first half of 2014, about 427,000 left Germany, up 22% year-on-year. A lot of the immigrants leave the country if they fail to find a job or get refugee status.

The anti-Islam movement called Pegida organized at the end of 2014 large protests against immigration in Dresden.
