Consultancy and market research firm GfK Romania is expanding to the neighboring Republic of Moldova, according to an announcement from the company. GfK will offer its full range of marketing consultancy and research services in Moldova.

GfK has already worked in Moldova with local partner Civis Moldova. "We decided to expand our business in Moldova first because of our cultural affinities, but also because we found significant business opportunities,” said GfK Romania general manager Andi Dumitrescu. He added that many international companies had opened branches in Moldova and that they were in need of data and marketing services.

In February 2013, GfK Romania will launch the second part of its FMDS study (Financial Markets Data System), for the banking system in Moldova.

GfK Romania has operated on the local market since 1992. The firm's turnover in 2011 was nearly EUR 11 million in Romania. GfK operates worldwide, working with 11,000 experts and carrying out research in more than 100 countries.
