GfK study: A third of Romanian web surfers buy products online and pay on delivery
Around 30 percent of online Romanians have also purchased via the web in the last 12 months, research by GfK Romania revealed. Around a quarter of those who buy online do so at least once a month.
Young people make up the majority of online purchasers. Of those buying online 37 percent are aged between 18 and 24.
Buyers went for products such as electronic and household appliances and telephones – 44 percent, clothes and accessories – 28 percent, personal care products – 22 percent, CDs and DVDs – 22 percent.
The most frequently used payment method is pay on delivery, used by 83 percent of the buyers. Online payments by card have become increasingly popular as well, ranking second in the top of most used payment methods in the last 12 months.
Online payments by card in Romania increased by 14 percent in the first 10 months of the year, compared to the same period of 2010, according to ePayment.
The GfK study included a sample of 671 people and had an error margin of plus/minus 3.7 percent.
