Going back in time: Dacian village built in Romania lets people live like real Dacians

19 October 2015

A Dacian village is currently being built in Naeni, 40 kilometers away from Buzau, in southeastern Romania. The village is located on Tigoarea hill, at an altitude of 550 meters, on the site of a 4,000 years old settlement.

People will get to live like real Dacians in this village, reports local Digi24. Two houses made of stone are already completed, and the first families can move in next year.

Local priest Mihail Milea laid the village’s cornerstone three years ago. Now, four volunteers from Naeni help with this project.

“Those who respect these minimum rules: to dress as a Dacian, to eat as a Dacian, to work as a Dacian, are welcomed to stay here happily ever after,” said Mihail Milea.

According to Naeni’s mayor, some people have already shown interest in this Dacian village, and would like to live here. Those who want to live in this village are usually aged over 40 and have families. Young people are not so interested in this kind of things, the mayor said.

Those who want to live in the Dacian village will be registered at Naeni city hall and will become residents of the village.
