Google brings its programing contest to Romania

Google will organize the third edition of its “Escape from /dev/null” programing contest in Romania’s capital Bucharest, on October 25 this year, the company announced.

Google chose Romania due to its strong community of programmers and IT developers. The event is opened for programmers, both students and professionals, but there’s a limited number of seats available. The registration period end on October 5 and the competitors will be then selected by a Google team.

The contest will take place in Impact Hub, close to Unirii Square.

The contest is structured as an online multiplayer game with a since fiction/adventure theme. “The outer game map is a graph, which is navigated on a communal web-based interface. When a team decide to take a certain path from the node they’re on to a connected node, they’re presented with a challenge. The inner game is revealed step by step a challenge a time,” according to the presentation of the game’s website.

The competition was first organized in Sweden, in April 2013, and then in Poland, in September 2014.
