Government plans to reopen gunpowder factory in central Romania
The Romanian Government plans to open the gunpowder factory in the city of Fagaras, in Central Romania, in a few months, said the Economy Minister Mihai Tudose, reports local News.ro.
The factory is a branch of Romarm, the main producer and direct exporter of military gear in Romania.
Other important plans in the defense sector include the production of the first Airbus H215M military helicopter at the Ghimbav factory in Romania in 2019, the minister added.
The minister went on saying that it’s not easy to produce heavy medium helicopters on stock, and that they need to be produced by market, by order. Last week, Serge Durand, the general director of Airbus Helicopters Romania, said that the factory has a number of orders, but under 16.
The Government plans to give a large part of the money alloted to the defense sector, namely 2% of the GDP, to the local defense industry, for technological transfer, new products and refurbishment.
