Greece’s Eurobank posts EUR 40 mln loss in Romania in 2013
Greek lender Eurobank, the majority shareholder in Romanian bank Bancpost, recorded a loss of EUR 40.2 million in Romania in 2013, according to the bank’s recent financial results.
In 2012, the lender posted a loss of EUR 35.2 million in Romania.
Eurobank’s total assets in Romania amounted to EUR 3.8 billion last year, down from some EUR 4 million the year before, while the value of the total gross loans stood at EUR 2.7 billion in 2013.
The lender’s operating income on the local market was some EUR 202 million, shows the bank’s financial results. At the end of last year, Eurobank had 207 retail branches in Romania.
In Romania, the Greek group controls Bancpost, ERB Leasing IFN, Eurobank Property Services, ERB Retail Services, Eurolife ERB Asigurari de Viata, and Eurolife ERB Asigurari Generale.
