Growth in manufacturing industry brings industrial production up in Romania
Romania’s industrial production increased by 2.9% in the first eight months of the year, mainly supported by the manufacturing industry which rose by 3.5%. The growth was also supported by the energy production and supply sector, which went up by 1.9%.
The extractive industry decreased by 9.2% during this period.
The industrial production dropped by 18.4% in August compared to July, due to the decrease in all three industrial sectors. The manufacturing industry saw the highest decrease of 20.5%.
Compared to August 2014, the industrial production rose by 6%.
