HBO Europe starts to shoot new series in Romania this summer
A new series produced by HBO Europe, will be filmed in Romania starting June this year. The series is called Umbre, local Mediafax reports.
This is the third HBO series produced in Romania and the leading role in this production will be played by Romania’s Serban Pavlu, an actor known for Romanian feature-length films such as Toata Lumea din Familia Noastra (Everybody in our Family), Cainele Japonez (The Japanese Dog) or Ursul (The Bear).
The series is a drama with black comedy influences that follows the story of Relu, a taxi driver that also makes money working for a local gangster. After accidentally killing a man, Relu tries to get out of this criminal world, but there is no way back.
The series will be directed by Igor Cobileanski, except two episodes to be directed by Bogdan Mirica.
Umbre is an adaption of the Australian format Small Time Gangster, created by Boilermaker Burberry PTY Ltd. The series’ premiere is scheduled for early-2015.
