Pawel Musial, CEO of Profi Rom Food, one of the largest supermarket chains in Romania, has been appointed a member of the supervisory board of Russia’s retailer group X5.

Musial previously worked with X5 from 2006 to 2007 when he was chief commercial officer and a member of the company’s management board, having previously been general director and chief operating officer of the Perekrestok chain since 2004.

Before joining Perekrestok, Pawel Musial held senior management positions in the food retail industry in Poland, including five years with Tesco Polsk.

He graduated from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) with an engineer degree in nutrition technology.

X5 Retail Group is a leading reading Russian food retailer. The company operates the soft discounter chain under the Pyaterochka brand, which has 3,419 units, the supermarket chain under the Perekrestok brand (378 units), the hypermarket chain under the Karusel brand (79 units), the online retail channel under E5.ru brand and convenience stores under various brands (155 stores).

Profi Rom Food is one of the largest supermarket chains in Romania, currently operating 173 Profi stores across the country.
