Beer producer Heineken recorded lower sales in Central and Eastern Europe in the first half of 2014, due to bad weather and difficult economic situation, Romania being one of the markets where the company registered a drop in sales.

Heineken’s beer sales in the region decreased by 4.2% in the first half, to 22.7 million hectoliters, reports local Wall-street.ro.

The Dutch group posted lower sales than in 2013 in Romania, Russia, Poland and Greece. However, at a global level, Heineken’s sales grew by 3.1%. The sales in Romania dropped amid lower beer consumption at a national level, increased competition on the market and the bad weather in the second quarter.
