Hidroelectrica to modernize Bicaz dam and Stejaru systems with EUR 110 million
Hidroelectrica will invest EUR 110 million in modernizing its systems in Bicaz – Stejaru, hoping to sign an agreement to cover the required financing by the end of the year, while also starting the revamping works.
The hydro system in Bicaz- Stejaru has been active for 50 years. The Bicaz dam (in picture) is 127 meter high, has 435 meters in length and 119 meter in width at its base. The Stejaru hydro power plant includes four turbines of 27.5 MW and two turbines of 50 MW.
Hidroelectrica is a Romanian state-owned company which is expected to be included in one of the two planned national energy champion companies.
