As car sales are going back to growth in Romania, tire sales also follow suit. The local tire market, which includes both the summer and the winter tire sales, was estimated at 2 million units last year, and gained some 20% this year, according to Alina Mihaescu, marketing director of Goodyear Dunlop CSEE, quoted by Wall-Street.ro.

Winter tires make the bulk of sales in Romania – 60%, while 35% will be summer tires, and only 5% will be all-season tires.

Most Romanians prefer to buy their tires in the auto repair shop, where they can also have them installed, but only a small percentage, 5%, buy their tires online. In 2013, the new tire market stood at some EUR 124 million in Romania, according to GFK.
