Higher salaries for social media employees in Romania

14 October 2015

The average monthly salary in social media has slightly increased from EUR 680 in 2013 to EUR 714, in Romania, this year. The highest salary announced this year amounts to EUR 3,400, according to the Social Media Employment in Romania study conducted by Evensys and Career Advisor.

Almost 45% of those who work in the social media sector earn between EUR 500 and EUR 1,000 per month. In companies with more than 500 employees, the salaries of those working in the social media area have increased by 20%.

“This year’s results confirm a development of the professionals and needs in the digital area. Besides the increase in average wages, and the increase for those with an experience of over 3 years, it’s obvious that the specialization in well-defined areas such as Content Management, PPC, and E-commerce is increasingly necessary,” said Madalina Uceanu, Senior HR & Executive Search Consultant, Career Advisor.

The most common titles for those working in this field are Social Media Manager and Social Media Specialist, the study shows. Before working in social media, the professionals who occupy such positions now previously worked in public relations, media, marketing, or online. Only 10% started their career with a job in social media.

Social media professionals dedicate between 59% and 75% of their time at the office to social media activities. The most frequent activities imply managing the social media accounts, posting, and revising the content.

Over 200 people working in the social media sector took part in this analysis, by completing an online survey between September 23 and September 29.
