A general manager of a business consultancy company got the highest gross monthly salary in Romania last year, namely RON 172,477 (over EUR 38,000), according to data from the Labor Inspection based on the records submitted by the employers to the General Employee Evidence Register in electronic format, reports local News.ro.

The second-highest gross salary last year amounted to RON 166.103 per month (almost EUR 37,000), and was earned by a director of the Research and Development department within a company that manufactures non-specific machinery and equipment N.C.A.

Next was a gross monthly salary of RON 149,070 (EUR 33,200), which was earned by the deputy general manager of a company dealing with retail trade in non-specialized stores, mainly the sale of food, beverages, and tobacco.

The top five is completed by a gross salary of RON 145,322 (EUR 32,300), received by the general manager of a business consultancy company, and a monthly wage of RON 145,000 (EUR 32,200), earned by the general manager of a company that manufactures biscuits, cakes, and preserved pastries.

Two football players are also in the top ten, as they got a gross monthly wage of RON 142,129 (some EUR 31,600) each last year.

Data from the National Prognosis Commission (CNP), presented earlier this month, showed that Neamt is the county with the lowest average net monthly salary in Romania, namely RON 1,690 (some EUR 375). By comparison, the average net salary in Bucharest is RON 3,207 per month (around EUR 710).
