Greek owner of theme park near Bucharest brings Holiday Inn brand to Romania
Greek businessman Alejandro Poulakis, the owner of Divertiland, one of the country's largest amusement parks in Romania located close to Bucharest, will open at the end of next year a three-star hotel, which will be affiliated with the Holiday Inn Express brand. He estimates the investment in the hotel at EUR 7.5 million.
The accommodation unit will be located in Chiajna next to Divertiland, the A1 motorway, and Bucharest's ring road, near one of Bucharest's most important logistics hubs.
“The hotel is designed for those who work in the area, where we have estimated 40,000 employees, including representatives of foreign firms who want to avoid losing two hours a day on their way to the office,” Poulakis explained for Profit.ro.
The construction of the hotel, which will have 140 rooms, will begin in a few months, and the future Holiday Inn will be inaugurated in August 2020.
Holiday Inn, the brand of the InterContinental Group, will thus enter the Romanian market for the first time. Poulakis expects that at least four hotels will register under Holiday Inn logo in Romania over the next five years.
