Hollywood castle of Lugoj-born horror movie icon Bela Lugosi, sold for USD 2.2 mln
The castle that belonged to horror movie icon Bela Lugosi has sold for USD 2.25 million, according to international media. Lugosi, who is better known for playing Count Dracula, was born in 1882 in Lugoj, a Romanian city which was at the time part of the Austro-Hungarian empire. Lugosi's real name was Béla Ferenc Dezső Blaskó, but he later changed it to include the name of his hometown.
His former home in Hollywood Hills, Castle La Paloma, features five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a service wing, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Lugosi played Dracula in 1931, in a film produced by Universal pictures. He went on to star in other horror movies, like The Son of Frankenstein and The Body Snatcher. Watch a fragment of Dracula below.
