Hospitals in Romania will be obliged to publish the public purchase contracts they conclude, the hospital directors’ wealth statements, the sponsorships, and the transfers of value received from healthcare professionals.

Private hospitals that have supply contracts with the national insurance house or that use public assets will be obliged to present the revenues from the provision of medical services within the public health insurance system or by using the public assets and their sponsorships, reports local Profit.ro.

The information will be posted on the web pages transparenta.ms.ro and monitorizarecheltuieli.ms.ro in maximum one month after the Government approves the procedure. The bill has already been prepared and now waits for the Government’s approval.

Last year, the state hospitals initiated 43,500 tenders worth EUR 3.7 billion and granted directly, through the online system, over 422,000 contracts worth over EUR 123.7 million. At the moment there is no coherent system to analyze the procurement carried out by public hospitals.
