Hotel federation in Romania wants “cleaning” action for hotels and restaurants

07 October 2016

The Federation of Romanian Tourism Employers (FPTR), an association of local hotel owners, has asked the National Tourism Authority (ANT) to continue the “cleaning of the tourism market” by including hotels and restaurants.

“FPTR congratulates ANT for starting the cleaning of the tourism market, a measure which the hotel sector has been asking for a long time,” reads the FPTR press release, cited by local Profit.ro.

Almost half of Romania’s tourism agencies have lost their operating license following an extensive action of ANT. This week ANT has withdrawn or cancelled the operating licenses of 1,300 travel agencies that didn’t have insurance policies anymore.

A travel agency can legally operate if it has a valid insurance policy, among other requests. FPTR representatives also said that the hotel owners will pay more attention to what tourism agencies they will collaborate with in the future.

The same cleaning measure needs to be applied to hotels and restaurants so that the tourism industry can operate correctly, according to FPTR.
