Hotels, embassies and ICR subsidiaries abroad could promote Romanian products

10 June 2013

Hotels owned by Romanians could promote Romanian products in a special display case in their units, according to a proposal by the Romanian Minister for Tourism and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Maria Grapini. She wants to convince hotel owners to help boost the local presence in their hotels, and apply a similar measure at Romania's embassies abroad, as well as at the headquarters of the Romanian Cultural Institute ICR abroad. Grapini also wants to organize fairs with Romanian products two times a year, and help increase Romanians' appetite for local products.

“I did not like the previous program, and not because it was launched by another Government./ The slogan was 'Buy Romanian'. I think Romanians have the wrong purchasing habits. Buy Romanian makes you think of the buying strategy, not of the purchased product. Romanians still buy cheap products, do not check the quality, go with the cheapest option, go to the Red Dragon […], so it did not sound good and we decided to change it. We will propose the slogan “But a quality Romanian product," said Grapini.
