How many lynx live in Romania’s forests?
Romania’s forests are home to 1,200-1,500 lynx, according to data from WWF Romania. The number represents around 14% of Europe’s total population, except for Russia.
According to WWF Romania, the species used to be widespread throughout Europe but, in the last century, these wild cats have almost disappeared in western and central Europe because of human action and the destruction of habitats.
The environmental organization is currently conducting a campaign which allows people to adopt a lynx and contribute to these wild animals’ protection. More information here.
