Almost 620,000 individuals in Romania made revenues from liberal activities totaling over RON 8.2 billion (EUR 1.8 billion) in 2014.

This sum includes income from liberal professions, commercial revenues, intellectual property rights, and property leasing revenues, according to the Tax Agency ANAF, reports local Mediafax.

Lawyers, financial auditors, fiscal consultants, accountants, pharmacists, and notaries are just some of the liberal professions included.

The highest income earned by an individual from liberal activities in 2014 amounted to EUR 4.4 million. The second largest was EUR 3.7 million, and the third was EUR 3.3 million.

Any individual who earns more than EUR 100,000 per year becomes a VAT payer so those who register such high revenues also pay a lot of taxes, according to fiscal consultants.
