Huffington Post includes Romania’s Timisoara among affordable luxury destinations for autumn

07 October 2014

Romania’s Timisoara was included by Ammerican news portal Huffington Post in a list of ten affordable luxury destinations for autumn, alongside other cities in Spain, Portugal or Bulgaria. Timisoara was the only Romanian city included in the list which was made based on prices of four and five star hotels, but also on local tourist attractions.

“Timisoara thus becomes an important tourist destination, being included by Huffington Post in top 10 affordable luxury destinations for autumn 2014. The fact that the city is becoming a tourist attraction is also supported by the growing number of overnight stays registered by accommodation units,” said Dan Diaconu, deputy mayor of Timisoara, quoted by Agerpres newswire.

Data from the National Statistics Institute INS shows that the number of tourists visiting Timisoara has been on an upward trend in the last two years. In July 2014, the number of overnight stays in hotels and guesthouses in Timisoara reached 68,200, compared to 63,000 in July 2013 and 59,000 in July 2013.

To maintain this trend, the city managers focus on improving the infrastructure and increasing the attractiveness of the historical heritage, according to Diaconu.

Travel Planner: Timisoara’s enjoyable, cosmopolitan air.
