Hungarian pharma group ups sales in Romania by over 14%

Hungarian pharma group Gedeon Richter had sales of EUR 165 million in Romania last year. The turnover rose by 14.6% compared to 2014, when the group’s local sales were EUR 144 million.

Pharmafarm and Gedeon Richter Farmacia, namely the distribution and retail divisions, had the biggest contribution to the sale increase. The distributor Pharmafarm and the network of over 100 pharmacies had sales of EUR 149.7 million in 2015, up 18.2% compared to 2014, due to the good results from the second half of the year.

Gedeon Richter also owns a production unit in Targu-Mures, in Transylvania. The sales of drugs produced in the Romanian factory dropped by 0.3% reaching EUR 28.7 million.

At global level, the group’s sales increased by 2.9% to EUR 1.17 billion.
