As many as 400 foreign tourists, among whom British, French and Americans, have made bookings and are waited for this winter at the Ice Hotel at Balea Lac, the only ice hotel in Eastern Europe. The hotel is located at a 2,034 metre altitude in the Fagaras Mountains in central Romania, where the snow layer is more than 70 cm deep.

This year, the Ice Hotel has 14 rooms, a bar and a restaurant. In order to get to Balea Lac, tourists must resort to their own cars or to group buses, and from Balea Lake to Balea Cascada they can only go up by cable.
