Ikea drops prices by 12 percent from September, new catalog launched
Swedish retailer Ikea will drop prices by 12 percent on an average from the beginning of September, on over 4,000 products it sells in its Bucharest store. Ikea has launched the 2011 catalog, which will have 1,700 items with lower prices, according to the retailer. The new catalog, which is valid until August 31st 2011, will be distributed in 950,000 free copies all over Bucharest, Ploiesti and the nearby areas. An interactive map will be available on ikea.ro for customers to check when the catalog will be delivered in their area.
Prices in the Ikea store have dropped by as much as 60 percent for some items. “The prices have dropped by 12 percent on an average on all products. The percentages by which over 4,000 products' prices have dropped vary between 5 and 60 percent. [..]” says Cornel Oprisan, retail manager of Ikea in Romania.
The company has managed to reduce the prices after it has improved the logistics track, adding a more precise stock estimation. “Plus, entering the Ikea Group brought us a better synergy between production and retail in Romania. The Ikea store in Romania was opened in March 2007 through a local franchise. This year in March the store was taken over by Ikea group.
