IKEA’s business in Romania reaches EUR 123 million
Swedish furniture and home decorations retailer IKEA reached EUR 123.5 million sales at its only store in Romania in 2016.
IKEA Romania’s net profit reached EUR 6.2 million, according to official data from the Finance Ministry. The company had 520 employees last year.
The company’s results for 2015 are not available at the Finance Ministry, but in 2014 IKEA had a turnover of EUR 88 million and a net profit of EUR 2.5 million in Romania, and 473 employees. The company’s turnover increase was also supported by the online sales.
The Swedish group opened its first store in Romania, in Northern Bucharest, in 2007. The company plans to open its second store in Romania, in Eastern Bucharest, at the end of next year, and targets other big cities for expansion.
