Largest railway station in Romania Gara de Nord starts live online feed with arrivals, departures board
The Gara de Nord railway station in Bucharest has placed a live feed of its arrivals and departures board on its website, allowing travelers to see whether trains are arriving late or on time by accessing the webcam, rather than going to the railway station too early to wait for trains. During the trial period for this new page, between June 19 and 25, over 9,000 visits were recorded on the website. The webcam can be accessed here, and it shows the route, the arrival hour and how many minutes the train will be late, with the feed synchronized every minute.
The management of the railway station also took another step in the digital direction by creating a Facebook page at facebook.com/GaraDeNordBucuresti to keep in touch with travelers.
The Gara de Nord railway station is the largest in Romania, with 200 trains leaving and arriving on a daily basis, and around 20,000 passengers a day.
