Romanian industrial turnover growth slows down in May
The Romanian industry’s turnover growth slowed down to 5.6% in May this year compared to the same month last year.
By comparison, the industry’s turnover went up by 9.2% year-on-year in April. The slowdown was due to the 43% annual drop in the turnover of the mining and quarrying sector, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The turnover of the durable goods industry rose by 23.1% whereas the capital goods industry saw a 12.4% annual increase compared to May 2015. However, the energy industry’s turnover dropped by 15.6% year-on-year.
The tobacco manufacturing saw a boost of 34.2% in its turnover in May whereas the turnover of paper production went up by 28.2%.
Overall, the industry’s turnover rose by 4.5% in the first five months of the year over the same period in 2015.
