Industry turnover in Romania up 11.6% in first five months

The Romanian industrial turnover in the first five months, for both domestic and foreign markets, has increased by 11.6 percent compared to the same period in 2013. The increase was mainly recorded due to the growth of 11.8 percent in the manufacturing sector and the 8.5 percent increase in mining and quarrying, according to data from the country's statistics institute INS.

On main industrial groups, there were rises in all sectors: energy industry - up 35.5 percent, durable goods - 12.4 percent, capital goods - 10.3 percent, intermediate goods - 10 percent and consumer goods - 7.4 percent.

In May, the industry turnover increased by 2.7 percent month-on-month and by 10.9 percent when compared to may 2013.
