ING Bank expands its EUR ATM network across Romania

16 July 2014

ING Bank has expanded its network of ATMs in EUR to most of its self banks and offices across Rmania, after starting with a pilot project in a limited number of offices back in 2012.

A recent announcement from ING highlights the 166 offices where EUR ATMs have been installed. In June 2013, ING Bank had only 15 such ATMs for EUR, and was planing to expand to 20 by year-end.

ING Bank runs 218 units in Romania, 187 of which are retail units. The list of all offices which have an EUR ATM installed is here.

The ATMs allow both withdrawals, and EUR deposits, and, according to the bank, can be used for cash exchange. Withdrawal of EUR is possible even for those who hold ING accounts in RON, as the exchange is done automatically at the bank’s rate. A 0.5 percent fee will be charged for withdrawing EUR at the ATM, irrespective of the type of card used when making this withdrawal.
ING Bank Romania posted a pretax profit of RON 216 million (some EUR 48 million) in 2013, down 7 percent year-on-year.

The bank’s assets went up 11 percent to some RON 18 billion (EUR 4 billion), while the credit and placement portfolio increased to RON 10.5 billion (EUR 2.3 billion).
