Polish PE fund Innova Capital takes over major Romanian e-payment platform Netopia
Romanian founders Antonio Eram and Felix Crisan sold the majority stake in Netopia Group, one of the largest electronic payment processors in Romania, to the private equity investment fund Innova Capital.
Since 2003, Netopia has provided electronic payment solutions and other related services to a portfolio that now exceeds 25,000 merchants, most of them in the SME sector.
Through the Netopia Payments platform, 25% of the online card transactions on the local market are processed annually, and the mobilPay Wallet application is the first multifunctional digital wallet in Romania.
The company recorded in the first three months of this year transactions totalling over EUR 350 million through all available payment methods - mobile, desktop and tablet, with online payments increasing by 30% compared to the first quarter of 2022, Ziarul Financiar reported.
Headquartered in Warsaw, Innova Capital is an active fund in the Central and Eastern Europe region, having in its portfolio, globally, investments in companies such as Oshee, Neomedic, Voxtel (Orange Moldova), Orange Romania, Energobit and MobiTEL.
