Interactive map shows road quality in Romania

22 January 2015

Thinking of taking a road trip in Romania? This interactive map may prove helpful if you aren’t familiar with the quality of the country’s roads.

An interactive map which shows the quality of roads in Romania is now available on Enjoymaps.ro. The information comes from drivers and infrastructure forums, such as Construim-Romania.ro and PeUndeMerg.ro. The first version of the map reflects the information available on January 9, 2015, but it will be updated with new information on the state of national roads and highways in Romania.

The roads which appear on the map have different colors which reflect their current status. Blue means “excellent”, green is “good”, yellow is “satisfactory” and red is “bad”.

This comes in handy when planning your trips- a gem for both Romanians and foreigners! You may want to avoid the red sections, even if they seem shorter. These roads can really test the limits of your car, your driving skills, your nerves, and will also delay your arrival. For example, the road from Iacobeni to Borsa, which is marked red on the map, is one of the worst roads in Romania and should definitely be avoided.
