Investors show interest for Romanian eurobonds issuance
Investors subscribed for EUR 2.5 billion worth of eurobonds launched by Romania earlier today (September 4 ). The eurobonds, with a maturity in 2018, should bring Romania at least EUR 500 million.
Earlier in August, Romania was planing to sell eurobonds on external markets in the coming two months, to finance its budget deficit. This comes after having failed three times to sell bonds on the internal market.
The country has sold less bonds than planned in the last two months because of the political fight between prime minister Victor Ponta and the then suspended president Traian Basescu, which led to the increase in the yields and the depreciation of the Romanian currency.
