The group, which was disbanded through the Operation Aughrim, was active in Spain, France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, UK, the Netherlands before arriving in Ireland, according to the Irish Sun.

Pickpockets had been stealing wallets, as many as 400 iPhones and bags in crowded tourist hotspots in Dublin. Members of the group were dressing as tourists and used devices to jam the Police communication devices.

The thieves were also sending spies to check on potential Police agents in the area, sometimes waiting for a couple of hours before hitting the mark. Six undercover Police agents helped solve the case.
