Kurt Cobain documentary opens Transylvania International Film Festival in Sibiu
A new edition of Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) will take place in Sibiu, central Romania, between June 24 and June 28 this year. This year’s program includes 40 movies to be screened in 8 different locations in the city.
Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, the first documentary about Nirvana's legendary lead singer made with his family’s cooperation, will open the series of screenings in Piata Mare on Wednesday, June 24, from 22:00.
Other movies to be screened in Piata Mare are Comoara/The Treasure, directed by Romanian Corneliu Porumboiu, Stephen Daldry’s newest film Trash, Tudor Giurgiu’s De ce eu?/Why me?, and Wild Tales/Relatos Salvajes, directed by Damián Szifron. All screenings start at 22:00 and have free entrance.
Football fans will have the chance to see a documentary about Messi, one of the world’s best football players, on June 25 in Sub Arini Park.
Wild Tales/Relatos Salvajes will be screened close to Gura Raului dam on June 26. In the same day, the stage placed on the lake of Astra Museum will host the screening of Black Sea, a movie directed by Kevin Macdonald and starring Jude Law.
On June 27, the music of French DJ Radiomentale will accompany the masterpiece Aurora/Sunrise (1927), directed by F.W. Murnau. The film will be screened in Cisnadioara Citadel, starting 21:30.
Films screenings will also be held in Gong Theater, Habitus bookshop and Faust Cafe und Disco. Find the entire program of the festival here.
