How did the large telecom operators in Romania evolve in 2015?
Largest local mobile communications operator Orange posted a turnover of over EUR 1.03 billion last year, up 6.2% over 2014, but its net profit dropped by 35% to EUR 58.9 million.
The number of employees also dropped by 267 compared to the previous year.
Its strongest competitor Vodafone saw an increase of 5.7% in its turnover up to EUR 749.3 million, but also a profit growth of EUR 13.8% to over EUR 40.6 million, according to data from the Ministry of Finance, cited by local Hotnews.ro. The number of employees remained steady.
RCS&RDS, the biggest local TV and landline Internet operator, reduced its net loss by 67.7% to EUR 5.15 million. Its turnover amounted to EUR 607 million, up 16.6%. Its debts amounted to almost EUR 1 billion.
Telekom Romania, which includes the former Romtelecom and Cosmote operators, saw revenues of EUR 984 million, down by 1.8% compared to 2014.
